“Paint Slums Bright” is an innovative project that will be implemented in the Ugandan town of Jinja 9th to 16th August. 100 houses in the city’s slum areas will be painted in vivid colors. The aim is to create optimism among the inhabitants of the slums. The promoters are journalists involved in the Ugandan media network Busoga Media Link (Bumeli).

Many children in Uganda have been victimized or left in vulnerable and needy situations. This is due to the lack of adequate resources to meet basic needs in impoverished families; especially those families that are headed by children orphaned due to HIV and AIDS.
Arise and Shine take care of these children with the aim of restoring them back to their health and reuniting them with their family. Where this is not possible, Arise and Shine work to find adoptive families for those that do not have any family members willing and able to take them back.
The event “Painting The City Bright” in the Ugandan town of Jinja, which lasted for three weeks, ended 18th May. Then many houses and walls of the city were painted in vibrant colors, and a noisy procession was held through the town, in the evening was a successful concert with reggae icons Inner Circle.
